Fashion billionaire Yusaku Maezawa has announced the group of celebrities he has chosen for a round trip to the moon.

The «dearMoon» crew has been assembled for a six-day round trip to the moon, according to an online video that features the members and Yusaku Maezawa – a fashion billionaire and founder of Zozo, one of Japan’s largest online retail clothing platforms.

«I hope each and every one will recognize the responsibility that comes with leaving the Earth, traveling to the Moon and back,» Maezawa said in the Youtube clip. «They will gain a lot from this experience, and I hope they will use that to contribute to the planet, to humanity.»

Moon Trip

The «dearMoon» project was conceived by Maezawa and unveiled in 2018 as an experimental lunar tourism mission. The plan is to send a crew to the moon for a six-day round trip with no landing in hopes that the experience will positively inspire the creative work of artists.

The crew could head off as early as 2023, although the SpaceX ship planned for the trip is reportedly behind schedule for launch.

In 2021, Maezawa announced that he would accept video applications from those that wish to join him on the round trip to the moon. Alongside Maezawa, the crew has eight members and two backups including DJ Steve Aoki, South Korean rapper T.O.P., Indian actor Dev Joshi and others.
