German asset manager DWS and Japanese insurer Nippon Life have announced an extension of their strategic alliance.

DWS and Nippon life will extend their strategic alliance for another five years from March 11, according to a statement. As part of the tie-up, the two firms agreed to continue to collaborate on expanding distribution reach, product innovation and research.

Joint initiatives include identifying funds for distribution in respective channels, introducing more DWS exchange-traded fund options for Japanese investors and integrating research capabilities. The two also plan to work together on insurance advisory and solutions for Nippon Life subsidiaries, as well as third party clients.

Since 2018

The strategic alliance between the two firms was first signed in March 2018 and has since seen «increased investments made by Nippon Life into DWS product solutions, joint product distribution through the establishment of a mutual network and new business collaboration with Nippon Life’s group affiliates».

«By complementing each other’s strengths and working on areas such as greater investments, distribution, knowledge transfer and outside-of-Japan collaboration, this agreement will position both companies well in order to expand its asset management business globally,» said Nippon Life managing executive officer Minoru Kimura.
