Global financial services company Allianz is supporting the rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts of the recent earthquake in Nepal that led to loss of numerous lives and property.

Manuel Bauer, Allianz SE Board Member responsible for Insurance Growth Markets, said, “We share the pain suffered by the people of Nepal due to the recent earthquake and its aftershocks. Allianz Board decided to donate 50,000 euros (approx. 75,200 SGD) to our global partner SOS Children’s Villages. This is in keeping with Allianz groups’ approach to such disasters, which is to focus on the subsequent rehabilitation activities for the numerous survivors.”

SOS Children’s Villages will use this sum for carrying out immediate relief measures and also to create child-friendly spaces in the destroyed areas, giving children some space to play and relax while the elders are working on reuniting families.

“We are sure that this donation will be used to support long term measures to mitigate the effect of the devastation and create systems to prevent future loss of lives and property due to such disasters,” added Bauer.

In addition to this, Allianz departments and employees in different entities around the world also contributed in their own way by direct donation and generation of funds through sales proceeds by creating special events.

The strong earthquake that shook Nepal and its adjoining areas on 12th May left thousands dead. The most important step is the mammoth task of rehabilitating and rebuilding the lives of many of the survivors.
