Singtel's partnership with Wirecard expands, allowing users of the Dash platform to make mobile payments in-store using Apple Pay.

Wirecard has expanded its partnership with Singtel to allow users of the telecoms company’s mobile payment platform Dash to make purchases using Apple Pay at online and offline stores worldwide, the U.K.-based fintech company said in a press release Thursday.

«Our expanded partnership with Wirecard to bring Dash to Apple Pay reflects our commitment to enhance the digital payment experience for both merchants and customers,» Singtel head of mCommerce Gilbert Chuah said.

Dash is an all-in-one digital wallet that allows users to make payments, travel on public transport and remit money without a bank account. It introduced its Virtual Visa Account in 2017, allowing its users to make international mobile payments.

According to Wirecard’s 2018 International Holiday Shopping Report, mobile and online payments are growing in popularity in Singapore, with 67 percent of locals preferring to shop online, compared to 20 percent preferring to shop in-store. The same survey revealed that 51 percent of respondents said that using mobile payments in-store would improve their shopping experience.
