Kirt Gardner recently picked up the tools at UBS, taking charge of the banks finances. He now made an important addition to his team.

GAM, the Zurich-based asset manager, this morning said its board member Tanja Weiher would step down with immediate effect. The reason for her abrupt departure: Weiher returns to UBS and becomes chief of staff to new CFO Kirt Gardner, according to research by finews.asia confirmed by the bank.

Return After 5-Year-Break

Weiher returns to UBS after a break of five years. She left in 2011 after 13 years working for the bank to build her own consultant company Weiher Partners. Her firm advises companies on strategy and process development. Her priorities are organization and personnel management.

In 2013, GAM elected Weiher to the supervisory board. She now has to resign from this position due to governance rules. At UBS, Weiher will become Gardner's most important adviser. The CFO started in his new position at the beginning of the year, replacing Tom Naratil.
