New York-based private equity firm Warburg Pincus has announced changes to its senior management team in Asia.

Warburg Pincus appoints Vishal Mahadevia as head of Asia private equity – a newly created role – according to a statement. Mahadevia joined the private equity firm 17 years ago in 2006 and was previously head of India. He will retain his role as co-head of financial services. 

Narendra Ostawal, who joined in 2007, will become the new head of India private equity while teammates Viraj Sawhney and Anish Saraf will take on expanded roles.

Regional Changes

Frank Wei will step down as head of China after more than 20 years with the firm. He will remain as a managing director through 2024 to ensure a smooth transition. Min Fang and Ben Zhou who joined in 2007 and 2005, respectively, will serve as co-heads of China private equity.

In Singapore, Warburg named Saurabh Agarwal as head of Southeast Asia equity. Agarwal joined Warburg in 2009. And in Japan, Tak Murata will in early 2024 as head of Japan and co-head of Asia real estate, alongside current co-head Ellen Ng.
