Japanese insurer MSIG Asia has announced the appointment of a chief technical officer and chief risk officer.

MSIG Asia appoints William Song as chief technical officer, according to a statement. In the role, he will take on the additional responsibilities of overseeing strategic growth areas in the region.

Song has over 20 years of experience in the insurance sector. He first joined MSIG Asia in 2010 before being promoted to become chief risk officer (CRO) in 2018.

Succeeding Song as the new CRO and reporting to him is MSIG’s regional actuary, Felicia Er. She is tasked with leading the firm’s risk management and actuarial services for the region, across ASEAN, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand.  In addition to her CRO role, Er is also the chair of MSIG’s motor committee.

Er has 16 years of general insurance experience in London and the Asia Pacific region. She first joined MSIG Asia in 2012.

MSIG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance and part of the MS&AD Insurance Group.
