Canadian insurance giant Manulife has appointed a new chief executive for Asia, succeeding Anil Wadwhani.

Damien Green has been appointed Asia CEO at Manulife, according to a statement, succeeding Anil Wadwhani who left the firm.

Based in Hong Kong, Green reports to Manulife president and CEO Roy Gori.

Green has more than two decades of insurance experience across the Asia Pacific region. He joined Manulife in 2018 and was most recently its Hong Kong CEO. Previously, he also worked at Metlife, AIA and AustralianSuper.

Pankaj Banerjee, chief distribution officer for Manulife Asia, will serve as interim Hong Kong CEO until a successor is appointed.
