GAM is losing its head of communications, one of the few women in top management at a major Swiss financial services firm.

Larissa Alghisi Rubner is leaving the Zurich-based asset manager to pursue new opportunities, GAM said in a statement on Thursday.

Alghisi is one of the only women in top management in a major Swiss financial services firm, which is still largely the domain of male executives.

She steps down from GAM's top management at the end of the month, and will be with the firm for an undisclosed period of time beyond that as a transition.

Alghisi, a seasoned finance expert who spent several years in senior communications roles at UBS, will be replaced by former finance reporter Elena Logutenkova (pictured below), who joined GAM as a senior communications manager just over one year ago.

Setback for GAM

The loss of Alghisi is a setback for the company: she completes a six-year tenure during which GAM rebranded following its disposal from Julius Baer and more recently restructured under CEO Alex Friedman. She was promoted to GAM's eight-member top management last June.

«We would like to thank Larissa for her many contributions over the past six years and for building a strong in-house communications team, which allows for a seamless succession,» Friedman said in a statement.

Alghisi played down any notion of discord in her departure.

«GAM is a great company with the right strategy to tackle the challenges of the future,» she told finews.ch.
