Good Evening, Mr. Bond. An international family office with a connection to James Bond brings in a UBS specialist for a newly created role.

International family office and UK asset manager Stonehage Fleming has appointed Stefan Flachsmann as its group head of financial services, responsible for the management and development of Stonehage Fleming's financial services offering in a newly created position.

The wide-ranging portfolio of responsibilities includes the group's treasury, trading and custody platforms, financial counterparties, and the group's financial partners.

James Bond Connection

Stonehage Fleming was formed in 2014 through a merger. Fleming Family & Partners, run by relatives of banking pioneer Robert Fleming and James Bond creator Ian Fleming was one of the firms. The other partner was the international family office Stonehage, which has its roots in South Africa.

Flachsmann will be based in Zurich, reporting directly to group CEO Chris Merry. Flachsmann has 27 years of experience in investment and private banking, as well as asset and fund management, having worked in the US, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.

He previously worked at UBS as the head of asset servicing Europe and was a co-founder of the bank's asset servicing business, which included building an institutional wealth platform and solutions for the super-rich and institutional clients. Before UBS, Flachsmann was a risk and management consultant and led global regulatory and banking programs.
