Unrest in Hong Kong continues to push wealthy Hong Kongers to seek alternates homes including, most recently, a sudden spike in demand for Irish residency.

Around 100 residents contacted Irish immigration investment specialist Bartra Wealth Advisors in the past eight weeks, according to «The Times», compared with less than a handful before the protests started in June.

Of those that inquired, 30 Hong Kong persons have applied for fast track residency which requires minimum investments of at least 1 million euro ($1.1 million) in Ireland.

This compares with just two or three Hong Kong residents that applied for the scheme before the unrest, according to James Hartshorn, director of Asia for Bartra.
