JPMorgan chief executive Jamie Dimon reportedly visited Taiwan to see staff and clients, in the midst of rising cross-straits tensions.

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon arrived in Taipei last Friday as part of plans to meet with around 500 local employees and customers in Taiwan, according to a «Bloomberg» report citing unnamed sources.

The US lender's operations in Taiwan include corporate and investment banking, commercial banking and asset management.

Cross-Straits Relations

The trip is part of a broader Asia tour by Dimon to visit various markets in the region and the Taiwan visit is of interest as it follows a visit to China in the midst of growing political sensitivities.

Taiwan claims to be a self-ruled nation while China does not recognize this status and, instead, claims sovereignty over what it considers to be a rogue province.

Dimon was in Shanghai for a JPMorgan summit before the Taipei trip and his Asia tour also includes visits to Hong Kong and South Korea, the report added.
