The global investment manager of financial planning firm TIAA has inked partnerships to give APAC private wealth clients expanded access to its core global real estate platform.

Nuveen's real estate strategy, which aims to provide income and growth from direct investments across commercial property types and geographic regions globally, will be available to APAC investors on alternative investment platforms Altive and iCapital.

The launch of these partnerships reinforce the company's long-term commitment to Asia and is part of the firm’s strategy to expand into the growing wealth management segment, Nuveen said in the announcement.

«The hunt for yield in a prolonged historic low rate environment from the pandemic, combined with the longstanding under allocation of Asian investors’ portfolios to alternatives, present a compelling opportunity for Asia high net worth individuals, wealth managers and family offices to capitalize on the benefits of a direct global real estate allocation through a single investment,» Henry Chui, Nuveen managing director and head of APAC private wealth, said in the announcement.

Earlier this year, Nuveen announced a raft of new appointments and strengthened its leadership team in Asia Pacific to better service its growing base of institutional and private clients in the region.

Nuveen had $1.2 trillion in assets under management and operations in 27 countries, as of 31 December 2020.
