Peter Lim the Singapore based tycoon with several high profile sporting investment interests has this week seen his Valencia team join the biggest names in European football. In midweek Valencia secured their Champions League spot and following last nights draw which paired Valencia with teams it should beat and therefore qualify for even more lucrative financial rewards, Lim's investment of several hundred Euro's already looks like a winner.

The Champions League is a huge money-spinner for Lim’s club and is potentially worth hundreds of millions of Euro’s in television rights and related sponsorship revenues. This in turn will enable Lim to re invest and strengthen the team making regular Champions League qualification a distinct possibility and therefore more revenue.

Lim recently acquired the global image rights of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo via his Hong Kong based company Mint Media and will own and administer all of Ronaldo’s image rights, except for those related to his club Real Madrid, for six years.

Also keeping one eye on the draw was China’s richest man Wang Jianlin who owns a large chunk of another Spanish club Atletico de Madrid.
