A quick catch up of the moves around the region since our last report on Wednesday 22nd July.

UK headquartered bank Barclays has appointed Alexander Harrison as head of corporate banking for Asia Pacific a new role for the British bank as it moves to expand the business line in the region.

Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, AG (NYSE:AWH) has announced that Michael Garrison has been appointed Senior Vice President of Asia-Pacific for Allied World Global Markets. Mr. Garrison will report to Julian James, President of Allied World Global Markets, and will relocate to Singapore in December.

In this role, Mr. Garrison will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the Global Markets insurance operations in Asia-Pacific. He will oversee the company's direct insurance offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia.

Manulife in Singapore have made two significant hires, Carlos Vazquez has been appointed as chief product officer and will oversee product management and pricing. Vasquez was previously chief product officer at Manulife Indonesia and Wendy Walker has been named chief marketing officer, she will oversee the marketing, branding, communications and analytics at Manulife Singapore. Walker will also take responsibility for the development and implementation of digital and data analytics strategies.

Jungle Ventures, one of South Asia’s largest venture capital firms, has appointed David Gowdey, formerly with TPG Growth, as a Managing Partner. With this appointment, Singapore-based Jungle Ventures will now have a team of four Managing Partners led by Co-Founders, Anurag Srivastava and Amit Anand as well as Jayesh Parekh, Co-Founder of Sony Entertainment Television India who joined the firm in 2013.

Global investment manager Standard Life Investments has appointed its first press officer in Asia. Based in Hong Kong Alvena So will manage the Asian communications.

KKR, the private equity giant, has hired Atsushi Saito, the former chief executive of Tokyo bourse operator Japan Exchange Group Inc. as chairman of its Japan operations.

And finally on the legal front Singapore law firm Joseph Tan Jude Benny (JTJB) has hired Amrin Amir as a partner in its corporate practice from Watson, Farley & Williams Asia Practice. Amrin specialises in mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructuring across various industry sectors.
