Citi has expanded its equity capital markets team, landing a former J.P. Morgan investment banker in private markets, finews.asia has learned.

Alex Abramowitz joins Citi’s global private placement team with a focus on technology equity capital markets (ECM) in the region, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia, effective early October.

Abramowitz joins from J.P. Morgan where he spent around eight years, last as a vice president for private capital markets. Previously, he also worked for Barclays in New York where he focused on credit risk.

Ex-J.P. Morgan

Abramowitz will be joined by several other ex-J.P. Morgan bankers at Citi including vice president Eddy Hui who joined the China ECM market in July and Singapore-based associate Hwee Hwee Lim who joins the southeast Asia ECM team this month.

«We are running at record levels for ECM capital raising and these hires underline our commitment across the region to support our clients,» said Citi’s Asia co-head of ECM Udhay Furtado in the memo. «As pipelines continue to build, we will continue to add talent to the strong bench we have.»
