Geneva-based Pictet has established a new research institute to serve the whole group with topics about long-term implications for investments.

Pictet has established the Pictet Research Institute based in Geneva, according to a statement. The new group-wide capability will be dedicated to research into topics with long-term implications for investments, including macro, geopolitics and portfolio implementation solutions.

«The rapidly changing economic and market environment requires us to further strengthen our capabilities in analyzing existing and developing global themes and trends,» said Pictet managing partner Sébastien Eisinger. «The launch of the Pictet Research Institute, through its fundamental research, will enable us to better understand and adapt to the long-term implications of these developments.»

Ex-GSAM Investment Officer

The Pictet Research Institute will include a dedicated staff of PhD-leveled researchers and also collaborate with select academics and think tanks as well as draw on the group’s internal experts. It will be led by Maria Vassalou who joins from Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she was co-CIO of multi-asset solutions. In the role, she will report to Eisinger.

«Our research focus will be long-term and strategic, as opposed to tactical, aiming to drive innovation in our investment thinking, processes and offerings for the benefit of our clients and investment professionals,» Vassalou commented.
