People and talent lead the agenda at the upcoming Singapore FinTech Festival (SFF), co-organized with the Singapore Week of Innovation and TeCHnology (SWITCH) 2020.

The conference, which will be held in a hybrid format this year from 7 to 11 December, combines a 24-hour online event platform and over 40 global satellite events in fintech hubs around the world including physical and digital formats.

At a media briefing on Thursday, organizers said that the move to a hybrid format this year as a result of the ongoing pandemic was a silver lining as it could attract a more comprehensive lineup of speakers, and will help enable more people around the world to participate and drive engagement in this field.

The event will support initiatives and community activities that drive talent development, reskilling and upskilling of the financial and tech workforce, while continuing to champion key themes such as inclusion, green technologies and sustainability, SFF said.

Top Speakers

Among the speakers on SFF's Global Summits agenda are Zoom founder Eric Yuan, BlackRock chairman Larry Fink, Xiaomi co-founder Hong Feng, incoming Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser, HSBC chief executive Noel Quinn, UBS chief executive Ralph Hamers, Credit Suisse CEO Thomas Gottstein, Standard Chartered CEO Bill Winters, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, and rapper Akon.

Ten of the top sessions, including with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and 2019 Nobel Prize winner for Economics, Abhijit Banerjee, will be broadcast free of charge on platforms like YouTube and Facebook Live, organizers said.

Broad Scope

During the week, there will be five summits covering: economy, infrastructure, impact, investing, and talent. Climate science also plays an important part of the agenda, with leading experts and practitioners to provide a forward-looking view on developments and changes in this space.

A range of activities are also planned for the week, including the Fintech Awards prize presentation, Global Fintech Hackcelerator demo day, Slingshot Startup Competition, virtual tours of innovation labs across Singapore, a talent pavilion for knowledge sharing on tech hiring and AI-enabled talent matching,
