Singaporean vehicle leasing giant, Goldbell Group, launched a private debt platform aiming to provide alternative exposure and yields levels of up to low-teens.

The Goldbell Evolution Network (GEN) platform will focus on loans secured by physical assets, such as property or vehicles, to achieve yields of 5-12 percent. The loan ticket sizes are S$20 million ($14.7 million) or above and mature in about one to two years.

«Goldbell wants to build a truly cohesive community of local business owners and investors who can create more opportunities for the future generations of Singapore and create a self-sufficient business-friendly ecosystem,» said Alex Chua, CEO of Goldbell Financial Services, in a «Business Times» report.

Target Clients

The minimum investment sum is about $147,000 and is open to institutional and accredited investors, Chua said, but he wanted to avoid speculators. Goldbell is aiming to onboard 500 clients by next year and currently has about 50, primarily from family offices. In addition, Goldbell will co-invest around 30 percent of funding from firms sourced through the GEN platform to demonstrate confidence in its in-house credit research capabilities.

«This is not a peer-to-peer lending model, but a co-investment model,» Chua said.

Goldbell will assess fundraising requests before placing them on the GEN platform for investors to view and participate. GEN will also support tracking of repayments and handling of defaults or enforcement.
