Credit Suisse promoted from within to fill a senior Asia Pacific role. The incumbent is heading back to Zurich to take up another key position at the Swiss bank.

Switzerland's second-largest lender has named Jacqueline Koo as regional head of investment management Asia Pacific from next month. The move represents a bump up for Koo, the Zurich-based bank's former head of investment management in Hong Kong.

Koo, based in Hong Kong, takes over from Warren Hastings, who is relocating to Zurich where he will be head of investment management Europe, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia.

Prior to joining the Swiss bank last year, Koo was head of discretionary portfolio management Asia and Middle East at ABN Amro's private bank. Before that, Koo was head of portfolio management north Asia at Julius Baer, and head of investment management Asia at LGT Bank, all based in Hong Kong.

Credit Suisse has recorded a boost in discretionary mandates in the region, but the bank's top private banker in Asia, Francesco de Ferrari, wants more. The Swiss banker expects paid advisory services to underpin Credit Suisse's revenue in Asia in the future. The bank will report its first-quarter earnings later on Wednesday.
