Swiss Re China reinsurance CEO and country president will relocate from Beijing to Zurich to take on a new role.

Ivan Gonzalez will relocate from Beijing to Zurich in July to become CEO of corporate solutions at Swiss Re, succeeding Andreas Berger, and join the insurer’s group executive committee, according to a statement. Gonzalez is currently CEO of Reinsurance China and China country president, overseeing property & casualty and life & health businesses in the country.

He has international experience having worked in Beijing, Singapore, New York, São Paulo, and Zurich. After joining Swiss Re in 2001, he led the corporate solutions business unit in the Americas, managing Latin America from 2011 to 2016 and North America from 2017 to 2021.

Global Clients and Solutions

Separately, CEO of global clients and solutions Moses Ojeisekhoba will relinquish his position on August 31 and pursue opportunities outside of Swiss Re after 12 years with the firm. The businesses within the global clients and solutions business unit will be reassigned to other areas of the group.

In April, Swiss Re announced that Christian Mumenthaler would be stepping down as group CEO in July and be replaced by Berger. Mumenthaler worked at the Zurich-based insurer for 25 years and has been holding the top position for the last eight years.
