A former Barclays executive is reinforcing Credit Suisse's finance department following the departure of a high-profile finance executive to U.K. asset manager Jupiter.

Credit Suisse named Robert Arbuthnott its new head of finance and chief accounting officer under CFO David Mathers, a person familiar with the appointment told finews.ch. The news was first reported by «Bloomberg».

Arbuthnott replaces Charlotte Jones, who had been groomed to eventually take over Mathers' job, according to sources. She is one of a series of prominent high-level female executives to have left Credit Suisse in recent months.

Newcomer to Credit Suisse

Arbuthnott joined Credit Suisse in December as CFO for the bank's U.K. operations. At Barclays before that, he was CFO for the Asia-Pacific region.

Arbuthnott's appointment is the second move among key advisors to Credit Suisse management, after the bank yesterday replaced its head of investor relations with an associate of CEO Tidjane Thiam.
