On the back of recent leadership changes to its Singapore division, life assurance and investment products firm Friends Provident International, has now changed its Hong Kong management.

Friends Provident International (FPI), part of the Aviva group, said in an emailed statement it has appointed John Elkovich as Managing Director of FPI Hong Kong, effective from 1 August and subject to regulatory approval.

Elkovich succeeds Charles Barrows who has been appointed Vice President Director of Astra Aviva Life in Indonesia, subject to regulatory approval.

In May this year FPI changed the leadership of its Singapore operations when Previous MD Chris Gill was replaced by Andrew Waddell.

Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia

Barrows will continue to assume his current role at FPI Hong Kong in the interim period. Elkovich will report directly to Adrian Emery, Chief Executive Officer.

Elkovich was most recently Head of Investment Advisory and Wealth Planning at ANZ Global Wealth and Private Bank Asia, based in Singapore. In this role, he was responsible for the development and launch of the bank’s investment advisory and wealth planning business in Hong Kong in 2009 and in Singapore in 2010.

High Net Worth Targets

From 2000 to 2007 he was Senior Financial Planner, Private Bank, at Westpac Financial Planning and Advice, in Australia. Elkovich began his career as a Personal Banker at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, also in Australia.

«I am delighted to welcome John to lead our Hong Kong business. John has an impressive track record in the development and leadership of wealth management businesses in the region. His strong relationships with regulators, brokers and IFAs will represent huge assets for our business as we seek to boost growth in Hong Kong, notably by targeting the high net worth market,» said Emery.
