Following recent expansion into the vibrant Hong Kong market the global auction house Phillips has hired a new regional representative in Japan.

The appointment of Kyoko Hattori is part of the company’s ongoing international expansion strategy which has included several moves in Asia.

Hattori has significant experience in relationship management, deal origination and marketing in Japan. Most recently, she was a senior consultant for Spencer Stuart & Associates, a leading international search firm. She was also a Director of Aetos Japan, a prominent financial services firm, where she developed and managed client relationships and covered a variety of industries, with an emphasis on international financial institutions. She started her career as an analyst with McKinsey & Co.

Developing Asian Footprint

In 2015, Phillips launched its new Asian headquarters in Hong Kong. Following its first successful Hong Kong sale of watches in December 2015, Phillips plans to hold sales of both Western and Asian contemporary art in Hong Kong later this year.

«The time is right for Phillips to continue our expansion in the Asian market we are looking at long-term development and a broadening of future auction categories in Asia, and we need to deepen our relationships with high-net-worth individuals and emerging collectors in this important region,» said Edward Dolman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
