As the integration of Coutts International and Union Bancaire Privee in Asia comes closer to conclusion, another senior banker from the acquired bank has opted to depart.

In a press release RBC Wealth Management, part of Royal Bank of Canada, announced the appointment of Shirley Tang as Managing Director and Team Head, Asia. Based in Hong Kong, Tang will be responsible for leading a team of relationship managers focused on providing wealth management services to high net worth individuals.

Tang has extensive experience in private banking and asset management, having held roles at ABN AMRO, BNP Paribas and Credit Suisse.

RBC Wealth Management Expansion

At RBC Wealth Management Tang will join another former senior Coutts banker. She will report to Ignatius KK (Iggy) Chong, who was recently appointed to the role of Market Head, Greater China. Chong was also a former Coutts banker he was Head of Hong Kong Market and led Coutts Hong Kong Market teams.

Last year RBC Wealth Management lost two of its most senior bankers in Singapore when Grace Barki who had built a team covering Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand at the Canadian lender left the bank. A few months later Febby Avianto who was Market Head South East Asia, also departed to join Falcon Private Bank.
