UBS Asset Management has seen a flurry of activity. The firm was recently granted a license for private fund management in China and hired an equities specialist. Now another senior hire has been announced.

Rob Worthington joined UBS Asset Management on 19 July 2017 as head, Investment Solutions Specialists Asia Pacific (APAC), UBS confirmed to finews.asia.

Worthington joins the Swiss wealth manager from the Multi Asset Solutions team of J.P. Morgan Asset Management where he was the Lead Asia Pacific Client Portfolio Manager.

He was based in Hong Kong and responsible for developing the business across institutional and funds channels in the APAC region. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Worthington served for seven years as a commissioned officer in the British Army.

Greater China Hopes

UBS Asset Management in Shanghai recently became the first Qualified Domestic Limited Partner (QDLP) license-holder to receive a Private Fund Management license in China.

The approval allows the wholly foreign-owned enterprise (WFOE) to offer onshore fixed income, equity, and multi-asset private funds to both institutional and high net worth investors in China.
