They may have recently lost out to their local rival OCBC for the Asian business of Barclays Wealth, but true to their organic growth strategy, DBS Private Bank has snapped up a talented wealth professional.

In what could work out to be a an inspired move for both parties, Rob Ioannou the former Co-Head of HSBC Private Bank in Singapore is said to be joining Singapore's largest lender DBS to lead the International team at DBS's Private Bank.

finews.asia reported in April that Ioannou had unexpectedly parted company with HSBC Private Bank after 13 years of service at the U.K. headquartered bank.

A spokesperson for DBS has so far declined to confirm the hire, but asked by finews.asia Iannou did not deny the move.
