Friends Provident International, part of the Aviva Group, has announced the appointment of a new Managing Director for Singapore. Previous MD Chris Gill has left the firm.

Andrew Waddell will take up the role as Managing Director for Singapore with immediate effect, the company said in a press release.

Waddell was formerly Principal and Executive Director at Lahinch Partners, and prior to that co-led the establishment of AMP Advice, following the merger between AMP and AXA Australia. Based in Singapore.

He will oversee the Friends Provident International (FPI) business in the local market. FPI provides life assurance and investment products in Asia, and is part of the Aviva Group.

Returning to the U.K.

Chris Gill, formerly the Manager Director and a well known figure in Singapore, has decided to leave FPI for family reasons and will be returning to the United Kingdom.

New Business Push

«I’m excited to welcome Andrew Waddell to the FPI team. Having provided consultancy to global wealth managers and insurers in Singapore for the past two years, he is well placed to drive the Singapore business forward in the new strategic direction,» said Adrian Emery, CEO FPI.

Emery also paid tribute to Gill by saying, «I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Chris Gill for his contributions over the past 18 years. He has been instrumental in extending our international footprint and establishing our strong presence across Hong Kong and Singapore.»

The new appointment is subject to local regulatory approval.
