In Tokyo Mizuho Yamada has been promoted to partner in the global mergers & acquisitions practice at White & Case. Yamada advises on all aspects of commercial real estate transactions in Japan, including hotel-related transactions.

Following the recent announcement that it would close its New York office, Sean Muellers has left his role as Chief US Representative and General Manager for the Dalian Wanda Group in the US to co-found his own China-focused advisory group.

The Lan Kwai Fong Group in Hong Kong has hired Peggy Luk as Leasing Director. She moved from Hang Lung Properties Hong Kong. Luk spent eight years in retail leasing with Cushman & Wakefield in both Hong Kong and New York.

David Massbery has joined Knight Frank as an Associate Director with the property consultancy’s Hong Kong team. Massbery had previously spent two years with rival CBRE Hong Kong.

Sunil Kaul has been promoted by The Carlyle Group to a newly created role of head of Southeast Asia for its buyout advisory team. Kaul joined the Washington-based firm as a senior director in August 2008 from Citi, where he served as the president of Citibank Japan and a member of the Citi global management committee.

Chinese fund manager Springs Capital, a with about $5 billion of assets, has hired a four-member team to find international investments for companies and wealthy individuals in China.

The team allegedly from Hermes Investment Management will be part of a new unit based in Singapore. Former Hermes managers Li Chao and Richard Williams have become co-chief investment officers of the Singapore unit, and Mike Curry its chief executive officer, according to a media report.
