A spokesman for UK supercar manufacturer McLaren has indicated that sales in Asia and in particular China, are gaining strength. With more Chinese entrepreneurs entering the UHNW category through IPO’s and with recent gains across equities markets some of that new wealth is finding its way to the showrooms of McLaren.

David McIntyre the Woking based carmaker's Asian regional director said last week in Tokyo that the dealer traffic and follow on sales had been the best ever in China since the firm had officially entered that market. “People buy supercars when they feel confident,” McIntyre said.

McLaren recently enjoyed a positive week at the Shanghai Motor show where it launched the new sports series the 540C.

McIntyre went on to say that as the stock markets had risen and the real estate markets in the top tier cities had begun to stabilise potential clients were confident that the economy would remain robust giving them confidence to make a significant personal acquisition.
